closing seminar

the one thing @egypt should start working on is their punctuality
or should i say..one of the multitude of things EGYPTIANS should work on is their punctuality?
siemens closing seminar today!not only did i get to actually stand a few footsteps away from Siemens Egypt's CEO;Bernhard Levri, I also..got to see Mustafa!and spend time with him.
Today was rather productive.a 5 minute meeting with Joe,Luli and Sami.. and talked w/Sameh about the OC team stuff!im pleased
if only egyptians were more civilised..organized and punctual..if only they were less ignorant, dirty and passive

Hi Sarah,

it's part of our culture to be laid back and not rushing for anything in our lives even for important meetings. Both parties of a meeting will arrive not punctually on time, and if they do, they will sit and chat for a while before they start anything, and if you realize they may also chat or crack some jokes during the meeting, then go to a coffee break...and this is our identity, unlike Germans for example who ll leave if you are 5 min late, but this is also there culture.

I don't believe and i disagree that Egyptians are dirty people some other countries around the world has really dirty people who has no respect to anyone, women, men, old people or even themselves, also they don't think they are because this is there culture that they got used to! maybe it will be for someone who is out of the culture who may think that this is act is offensive to him/her while people within the country accept it!

If you think that Egyptians are not punctual and dirty i believe that this is your job as an exchange agent to start to change that and i think you wont be able to because it's part of our culture to be laid back, drink coffee in the afternoon have a nap and smoke some shisha!

Egypt is a pretty civilized county, it's a developing country that people like you and me and everyone in AIESEC Egypt is trying to change it to a developed country. With a population of 77.8 Million habitant more that 85% of them are living under the line of poverty which means that there daily income is about $1 and less some times, it's not an easy job for a minority to change some excising bad habits if we call it that insted of dirty.

Egyptians are not ignorant, they just priorities, we have so much problems in our lives to think and worry about more than a national dream of freedom or civil rights for example, we like to walk next to the wall and not include our selves into talks that may take us further places we don't wanna go to.

maybe you are a little bit different in expressing yourself and you have different believes but this is how we are!

I understand that your offended by the comment, but are you seriously defending the Egyptian people by claiming that other countries are the ones with dirty people? I don't even know what to make of that.
